Just Ride

Making cycling accessible to all

Find Your Active funding supported Just Ride Southend to design a programme to help make cycling accessible to everyone, no matter their age, ability, faith or disability.

In addition to their Tuesday and Wednesday morning sessions, their Get Active Summer Programme ensured they could complement their offer by delivering 2 more sessions. They hoped that these extra sessions would allow more residents to access the inclusive, safe cycling project.

Taking place on the athletics track at Garons, Southend, Just Ride have over 150 diverse bikes ranging from children’s balance bikes, to adult trikes, hand cranks and electric wheelchair bikes. Set up to be inclusive and accessible to all residents, without the additional barrier of costs, the riders are asked to donate £2.50, with carers and parents going free.

Thank you so much, both my girls came on such a long way. It was amazing that my daughter was off riding around the track. She often struggles to let her guard down with new people which makes it harder for her to learn, so thanks again for such amazing teaching, it's been amazing to see her progress.
